The portraits from the series »Mashody« are made on one day during the annual festival called »Mashody«. This is happening on Areal C at the NCO-Club in Karlsruhe, Germany. The Club is located in the former Paul Revere Village of the US Army. The Festival welcomes all different kinds of youth cultures: Parcour, Tricking, BMX, Skateboarding, HipHoppers and Graffiti Writers. Everybody can join just for having a good time or to be challenged in one of the sportive activities. There’s a lot of Music from Bands and DJs. Even the Club house and the barracks can be painted by the writers. The young people come from Italy, Switzerland, France and from all over Germany.
For my images I isolated the subjects out of the scenery to get more intensive portraits and to concentrate on the individuals personality.
Because of the neutral background and identical, portrait posing situations there’s a chance to create a group picture with the possibility to focus on the individual.
Die Portraits der Serie »Mashody« entstanden an einem Tag des gleichnamigen, jährlich stattfindenden Festivals. Dieses findet in Karlsruhe, Deutschland, im und um den NCO-Club herum statt. Dieser Club liegt im Areal C in der ehemaligen Siedlung Paul Revere Village der US-Army. Bei »Mashody« werden verschiedenste Jugendkulturen zusammengebracht: Parkourler, Tricker, Skateboarder und BMX-Fahrer ebenso wie HipHopper und Writer der Grafitti-Szene. Jeder darf sich hier ausleben und ausprobieren.
Es gibt Live-Musik von Bands und DJs. Selbst das Club-Gebäude und die dazugehörigen Hallen dürfen von Writern bemalt werden.
Die jungen Menschen reisen aus Italien, der Schweiz, Frankreich und ganz Deutschland an.
Für meine Portraits isolierte ich die Jugendlichen aus dem allgemeinen Geschehen um so intensivere, sich auf die einzelnen Personen konzentrierte Bilder zu bekommen. Durch die immer gleiche Aufnahmesituation kann dennoch eine Art Gruppenbild entstehen, jedoch mit der Möglichkeit sich auf den Einzelnen einlassen zu können.
